Students interested in the following areas of study will need to have some experience in bioinformatics analysis of RNAseq and proteomics datasets, and/or image analysis: (1) Molecular basis of heart failure, including inherited forms cardiomyopathy and atrial fibrillation; (2) Mechanisms of rare cardiac diseases, including peripartium cardiomyopathy; (3) Molecular characteristics of the ageing heart; (4) Molecular mechanisms of mitochondrial dynamics in the heart and skeletal disease.
