Research Profile

Associate Professor Belinda Moloney is an accomplished academic researcher with over two decades of experience in information systems, technology, higher education and local government. Since embarking on concurrent tech and academic careers in 2004, she has made significant leadership, teaching and research contributions to the understanding of various aspects of information systems, value chains, phenomenology, music technology, perception, higher education, and serious games.

Belinda's expertise lies in the intersection of information systems and the real world, where value becomes tangible and perceivable, focusing on qualitative and mixed methods investigations – phenomenology, grounded theory, descriptive quantitative research and case studies. Her ground-breaking doctoral research, titled "Phenomenological Investigation of e-Value Chains from Australian Music Stakeholder Perceptions," delved into music information systems and how they add value (creative and financial) from an Australian artist–to–consumer perspective, exemplifying her commitment to exploring complex phenomena within the context of contemporary digital environments.

Moreover, Belinda teaches several research training subjects for Master of Philosophy and Professional Doctorate students while supervising several PhD and MPhil students, each of whom has delved into diverse topics within the realm of information systems and technology, accounting and marketing disciplines with international impact. These topics include the impacts of organisational cultural capabilities on customer experience management, serious games design, disruptive technology impacts, the utilisation of e-markets by SMEs in Vietnam, managing the impact of 4IR technologies on Australian local government sector employees, data literacy gaps (health sector) and the exploration of technology’s educational influencers.
