Research Profile

Cindy Lee is a Senior Learning Facilitator at Torrens University Australia. Her research interest lies in the tourist experience, with particular focus on tourists’ photo-taking and online photo-sharing behaviours, and the integration of social media in contemporary tourism. Cindy is also interested in the study of emotional experiences, with recent works delving into the tourism, hospitality, and education industries. Having been in tourism and hospitality education for over a decade, she has taken interest in exploring hospitality education in the shifting landscape, from an on-site to an online and hybrid environment, as well as how educators can teach and train soft skills. She has also previously published in the area of hospitality career perceptions to assist with challenges relating to workforce and talent management – an issue persisting in the hospitality industry. Cindy is both a qualitative and mixed-methods researcher. She is supervising MPhil and PhD candidates in the areas of tourism competitiveness, resilience in the hospitality workforce, and tourist narcissistic behaviours. Throughout her career in academia, Cindy received three internal research grants on a range of high-impact projects. Upon completing her PhD, she was awarded the HDR Excellence Award for the contribution to knowledge and outcomes from her PhD research. In the teaching domain, Cindy received the Teaching Merit Certificate in recognition of her performance in teaching delivery.
