Dr. Debashis Sarker holds a PhD from the University of Queensland, Australia. His thesis studied the relationship between access to microfinance and the social and economic empowerment of people with disabilities. He has extensive qualitative research experience on the issue of social and economic empowerment of people with disabilities, inclusive education and employment of people with disabilities, financial inclusion, self employment of people with disabilities, entreprenuership for people with disabilities, mobile financial services, purpose built intergenerational housing. Dr. Sarker's expertise involves analysing large qualitative databases that contribute to policy development.
He has published multiple peer reviewed articles in reputed academic journals such as Journal of Gender Studies, Development Policy Review, Journal of Intellectual and Developmental Disability, Development in Practice, Alter-European Journal of Disability Research, Asian Social Work and Policy Review among others.
Dr. Debashis presented his research work in multiple prestigious research conferences in different universities such as Harvard University, USA; Australian National University, Australia; University of New South Wales, Australia; University of Queensland, Australia; Deakin University, Australia; University of Geneva, Switzerland; Ohio State University, USA; University College London, England; University Libre de Brussels, Belgium.
He has received multiple awards from Belgium, Bangladesh, and Australia for his academic and professional achievements. Dr. Debashis has more than 10 years of professional experience in different sectors such as research industry, NGOs, investment fund, higher education, and worked in multiple countries in Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia.
