Research Profile
Dr. De Souza completed her doctorate at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. She has led in General and Inclusive Education research projects, as well as collaborated in Integrated Care Research and Evaluation projects in Australia and Singapore.
To date, she has supervised one Master of Philosophy and one Doctor of Philosophy project to completion. She is currently supervising three Higher Degree by Research candidates (one MPhil and two PhD).
She recently completed the Critical Networks Project, conducted in collaboration with Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID), Trinity College Dublin, and Universidad Andres Bello, Chile. The study investigated the inclusion and training of young adults with intellectual impariments within university settings.
Dr. De Souza was an affiliate of the Healthy Homes and Neighbourhoods (HHAN) Integrated Care Initiative. The HHAN initiative focuses on improving care for families with vulnerabilities within Sydney Local Health District, NSW, Australia. The initiative has been designed, monitored and evaluated using realist methods. Dr. De Souza has contributed insights on critical realism, realist social theory, and their application in realist evaluation and review methods.
Her interests encompass conducting synthesis, reviews, educational and institutional interventions and evaluations, and exploring the application of Critical Realism and Realist Social Theory in field-practice. She has peer reviewed and published individual and co-authored articles in the Journal of Educational Change, Studies in Educational Evaluation, Evaluation (Sage Journals), American Journal of Evaluation, International Journal of Integrated Care, BMJ Open, BMJ Global Health, and Asian Journal of Social Psychology.
