Research Profile

I am an educator, researcher and internationally recognised VR director, film maker and game designer. With over 20 years’ experience creating engaging content for all screen types, I have an enduring passion for immersive storytelling. I am currently a senior lecturer and researcher focused on educational technology, immersive media and video games at Torrens University Australia. As a senior lecturer in the design and creative technology faculty, I have developed a strong record of quality teaching and research outputs. My research examines the significant learning benefits to be had with immersive technology. A key feature of the research is translating empirical research into VR experiences that inform, educate and inspire the community. Research outputs include publications in high-ranking journals: Computers & Education and Virtual Reality. Complementing this is the non-traditional research output ‘Thin Ice VR’ which I wrote and directed in collaboration with industry professionals. Thin Ice VR was produced by Monkeystack and Tim Jarvis AM, supported and financed by multiple partners, including Screen Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation and the Adelaide Film Festival. Since its release in November 2021, it has won three international awards and four national awards.
