Jason Mills is a Registered Nurse and Senior Lecturer/Curriculum Leader for Nursing at Torrens University Australia. He is a Fellow of the Australian College of Nursing and the Higher Education Academy (UK), having completed postgraduate training in Health Promoting Palliative Care, Mental Health, Medical Anthropology, Positive Education, and Compassion Science.

In 2018, Jason became a certified compassion educator, teaching the Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) program developed at Stanford University Centre for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE) for students, health professionals and members of the broader community.

While his research to date has examined both workforce (PhD) and community capacity (Honours) in a public health context of palliative and end-of-life care, Jason’s current research interests include health promotion in chronic illness and cancer survivorship, as well as the fostering of digital and compassion literacies to enhance health and wellbeing across the lifespan. As a certified Last Aid instructor, he is actively engaged in community education through the charity Queensland Compassionate Communities.

Jason is Editor-in-Chief for the international journal Progress in Palliative Care, and an Editor for Collegian: The Australian Journal of Nursing Practice, Scholarship and Research. He also serves on the editorial boards of Palliative Care and Social Practice, and the International Journal of Palliative Nursing.
