Professor Glover is Director of PHIDU (the Public Health information Development Unit) at Torrens University Australia.
John’s work aims to describe and to monitor, over time, the extent of associations between health status and socioeconomic disadvantage in Australia. His research uses a range of approaches to present data in ways that are accessible to a wide audience that includes students, educators, researchers and people involved in service planning, strategic planning and policy development. The results of this work are available at www.phidu.torrens.edu.au.
John and his team have prepared a number of reports for the World Health Organization, around gender equity and health equity and twice provided chapters on the Health Systems of Australia and New Zealand for the International Encyclopedia of Public Health. Major Australian reports include Advocacy and action in public health: Lessons from Australia over the 20th Century, 2013 and Housing experiences and suitability as determinants of health: Population patterns of housing and correlated health risk factors and outcomes, 2019
