Research Profile

Paul has combined work as a principal evaluation consultant for his own consultancy and as a ‘teaching specialist’ academic for over 30 years, He has evaluated 100+ diverse health programs/interventions on behalf of Governments and a broad range of NGOs and has worked for five universities in the UK and Australia. Paul has supervised PhD students to completion both at Flinders University and the University of Adelaide prior to arriving at Torrens in 2022. He has developed and delivered post-graduate topics in Public Health Evaluation, Qualitative Methods and Health Promotion across the sector and several resources he has designed continue to be applied in Universities, Government Departments and NGOs in Australia and overseas. An experienced teacher who integrates his applied work with course design and pedagogy, Paul is a lifelong learner and holds two Masters degrees including one in Education. Paul has received accolades for teaching including the ‘Most Inspirational Lecturer Award’ at Southampton Solent University. Paul was the ‘Tri-Statewide Coordinator’ for the ‘Primary Health Care Research and Evaluation Development’ program (PHCRED) for several years at the University of Adelaide Department of General Practice building capacity in evaluation across the Australian health care sector. Specializing in evaluating interventions vulnerable groups, e.g. suicide prevention, addiction, Aboriginal mental health, and (currently) families experiencing mental health issues.
