Professor Simon Stewart is a National Health & Medical Research Council (NHMRC) of Australia Senior Principal Research Fellow at Torrens University Australia. Prior to this, he held senior academic positions at the world-renowned Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute in Melbourne (Head, Preventative Cardiology 2007-2014) and as Inaugural Director of the Mary MacKillop Institute for Health Services Research in Melbourne, Australia (2014-2017). For the past 20 years his twin focus of research has been to undertake large-scale population and community-based studies to understand an evolving burden of heart disease and, in response, to develop innovative models of care to improve related health outcomes.
