Dr Tarikul Islam is Senior Lecturer in International Business in the Business School of Torrens University Australia. Tarikul has earned his PhD in International Business from the Business School of Deakin University, Australia, an MSc in International Business from the Hull University Business School, UK, an MBA and a BBA degree in Marketing from Bangladesh. He has over 13 years teaching experience in universities in Australia, Bangladesh and UK. In addition to teaching, he has supervised many undergraduate and master students’ research projects.  

Research Interests

Tarikul's research interests rooted in organisational ecology that strive to better understand value creation and value capture in international business in the era of global value chains. His works draw from the resource based-view theory, transaction cost economics, dynamic capabilities, organisational learning, social exchange and social capital theory, and stakeholder theory. Tarikul’s research employs both quantitative and qualitative methods including structural equation modelling technique, survey research design and case study. His research has received international recognition and funding including a research grant ($8000) from Torrens University Australia, the international postgraduate research scholarship (IPRS – A$230,000) from Deakin University Australia, an Early Career Research Grant (US$1500) from the National University of Singapore and the Emerging Researcher Award (A$1000) from Torrens University Australia.
