Research Interests

Tarikul’s research aims to better understand emerging economy firms’ internationalisation process through global production networks and the impact of the governance mechanisms of buyer-supplier relationships on sustainability of global value chains. His works draw from the resource based-view theory, knowledge-based view, transaction cost economics, organisational learning, social exchange theory, social capital theory and stakeholder theory. Tarikul’s research employs both qualitative and quantitative methods including structural equation modelling technique, survey research design and case study. His research has received international recognition and funding including the international postgraduate research scholarship (IPRS – A$230,000) from Deakin University Australia, an Early Career Research Grant (US$1500) from the National University of Singapore and the Emerging Researcher Award (A$1000) from Torrens University Australia.

Dr Tarikul Islam is Lecturer in International Business in the Business School of Torrens University Australia. Tarikul has earned PhD in International Business from the Business School of Deakin University, Australia, an MSc in International Business from the Hull University Business School, UK, an MBA and a BBA degree in Marketing from Bangladesh. Tarikul has over 13 years teaching experience in universities in Australia, Bangladesh and UK. In addition to teaching, he has supervised many undergraduate and master students’ research projects.
