Dr Tarikul Islam is Senior Lecturer in International Business in the Business School of Torrens University Australia. Tarikul has earned his PhD in International Business from the Business School of Deakin University, Australia, an MSc in International Business from the Hull University Business School, UK, an MBA and a BBA degree in Marketing from Bangladesh. He has over 13 years teaching experience in universities in Australia and Bangladesh. In addition to teaching, he has supervised many undergraduate and master students’ research projects.  

Research Interests

The cntral question motivating Tarikul's work has been: How does participation in MNEs global value chains (GVCs) shape the upgrading potentials of emerging economy firms? His research interests lie in governance, upgrading, value co-creation, resilience, innovation and sustainability in GVCs. Tarikul’s research employs both quantitative and qualitative methods including structural equation modelling technique, survey research design and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis. His research has received numerous international recognitions and funding including a competitive research grant in 2021 ($8000) from Torrens University Australia, the Emerging Research Excellence Award in 2019 (A$1000) from Torrens University Australia, the Early Career Research Grant in 2017 (US$1500) from the National University of Singapore and the international postgraduate research scholarship in 2014 (IPRS – A$230,000) from Deakin University Australia. His works published in International Business Review, Journal of Business Research, Society and Business Review, among others.
