When I first started my post at Torrens, I quickly realised that in the faculty of business, there was a slight lack of providing students to immerse their studies within a realist context. With this in mind, I created an initiative that I called Pinzon and Co. This is a consultancy that connect students with real clients. It has been a useful tool in all the different subjects that I teach such as Marketing Consulting project, as well as Marketing and audience research.
Social media plays a very important role in field of business and marketing. It’s integral in the practice of entrepreneurship, and as such, I place strong emphasis on including social media content for Facebook, Instagram. This is aspect that I believe students connect really well with and actively engage with. Furthermore, I’ve created a blog that discusses business and marketing trends, issues and tips that are beneficial in solidifying the knowledge gained in class.
In our current day and age, there is an abundance of software and tools that have made our working methods much easier and more accurate. I believe that it is crucial that students have access to these tools early on in their development because it allows them to learn more technical skills as well as improve their practices. For this reason, I’ve successfully organized access for my students to a program in particular called Qualtrics, which is a simple to use web-based survey tool that allows my students to conduct survey research, evaluations and other data collection activities. Since providing access to my students, I’ve received feedback from how much the inclusion of this program has allowed them to work more efficiently and perform significantly better in their assessments. Also, I encourage and explain the use of LinkedIn as a platform that could be beneficial for their professional development.
