Project Description

Despite WHS performance being improved in Australia and NSW, construction is still one of the most dangerous sectors and further improvements by the NSW Government are still sought. Further adoption of BIM by the Australian construction industry, with a specific focus on the intersection between WHS and government procurement policy, process and practice, represents a promising path forward.

This research seeks to ultimately contribute to healthier and safer construction projects. The research will enhance the ability of government to equitably and precisely assess a tenderer’s capacity to meet the elevated WHS standards envisioned to be set by a BIM-informed WHS management framework. Aligned with the objective of enhanced WHS performance as well as the established need for uniformity in the context of WHS management, this project has the potential to contribute to the development of a nationally deployable procurement model that embodies best-practice WHS management.
