Abstract

The training and education system in Australia is facing increased scrutiny following a change of government in 2022. There has already been considerable institutional change, and more is expected to follow. Following the Jobs and Skills Summit (Australian Government, 2022) with the detailed identification of the priorities and challenges within the labour market and the education and training system, the chapter examines the extent to which the summit's recommendations have addressed the United Nations Sustainable Development goals (SDGs), especially those that require a long-term perspective. The research will draw on secondary data from national agencies and national inquiries and reports into skills development.
