N2 - While we all face problems with promoting research even at a local level we must not lose sight of how much there is to gain from learning from each other. Together, on an international basis, we can make more progress in alleviating the suffering of our patients. The "head in the sand" approach (even on a nice warm beach in Australia or California) will be of little benefit to our patients or ourselves in the future. We must do more to take the good, but rare, examples of international collaboration in cardiovascular nursing and make them commonplace!
